Mise-o-jeu
Rules
Mise-o-jeu is governed by the REGULATION RESPECTING FORECAST CONTESTS AND NUMBERS GAMES which includes limitation of liability.
-
General rules, applicable as long as they are not modified by the specific rules of each sport described below.
-
For each selection, predict the outcome of the number of matches allowed in the applicable program. For each match of a selection, mark beside the match number attributed to it on the applicable program the box that corresponds to your prediction, taking the point spread into account, if any: visitor's win, hometown win, or tie if applicable. If the outcome of a match is a tie between two opponents and the applicable program does not offer the "tie" option for this match, the match is deemed not to have been played and cannot be part of a winning selection.
-
In order for a selection to be a winning selection, at least one of the matches must have been completed or deemed to have been completed, as defined hereafter, and all of your predictions for the matches completed or deemed to have been completed, must be exact, according to Loto-Québec's Official Results.
-
The outcome of a match is determined according to whether the match is completed or deemed to have been completed. For all sports offered, except baseball, a match is completed and can be part of a winning selection if the two opponents have started the match and if the match is completed, at the latest, at midnight the second day after the day indicated on the applicable program ("the time limit"). The outcome of a match that is completed is determined by the final results of this match according to Loto-Québec's Official Results. For the sports listed below, a game is deemed to have been completed if both opponents have started the match and if, at the time limit have been completed at least:
- in hockey and football: 55 minutes of the match;
- in professional basketball: 43 minutes of the match;
- in college or Olympic basketball: 35 minutes of the match;
- in soccer: 85 minutes of the match.
The outcome of a match that is deemed to have been completed is determined by the score of that match at "the time limit" according tot Loto-Québec's Official Results.
Any other match is deemed not to have been completed and cannot be part of a winning selection.
-
Even if a match has started before the time or date indicated on the program, only the predictions regarding that match registered before the actual beginning of the match are valid.
-
If all remaining predictions of your bet are exact, your prize is calculated according to the remaining number of matches down to a minimum of one match. If no match of a selection is completed or deemed to have been completed as defined above, the selection is null and the participant is entitled only to the amount he has wagered on that selection.
-
For programs with variable odds, the prize to win is equal to the product of the odds indicated in the applicable program for each of the participant's predictions for matches completed or deemed to have been completed as defined above multiplied by the amount wagered (example: if the participant bets on 3 completed matches: [odds of first choice x odds of second choice x odds of third choice x wager]). For programs with set odds, the prize to win is equal to the odd indicated in the applicable program, in accordance to the number of matches completed or deemed to have been completed multiplied by the amount wagered (example: 3 matches completed: 5 x wager; 4 matches completed: 8 x wager; 5 matches completed: 15 x wager).
-
However, Loto-Québec reserves the right to limit to $2,000,000, at any time, the prize amount payable for each winning selection of any number of matches. In such case, if there is more than one winner for the same winning selection, the prize to win for each of them is determined in proportion to the amounts wagered on the winning selection.
-
The results of the match are determined by Loto-Québec in accordance to the present rules. Loto-Québec does not recognise protest(s), overturned decisions or amended results after it has entered the final result of the event into the on-line system.
-
Loto-Québec may, at its discretion and at any time, refuse to accept bets and to issue tickets bearing any selection which it may determine.
-
Before leaving the point of sale, check all the information on your ticket. ONLY SELECTIONS REGISTERED BY THE CENTRAL COMPUTER SYSTEM PARTICIPATE IN THE GAME.
-
A selection can be cancelled only within thirty (30) minutes of its registration, but never after the closing time of the selection's first match or never after midnight the day of its registration.
"Mise-o-jeu is not authorized by nor associated with any professional league nor any of its member teams."
-
Specific rules, applicable to certain sports. The general rules also apply to these sports insofar as they are not modified by the following:
BASEBALL
- In baseball, the outcome of a match that is completed or deemed to have been completed is determined by its result in accordance to Loto-Québec's Official Results as defined hereafter. A match is completed and can be part of a winning selection if the two opponents have started the match and if the match is completed before 6 a.m. the day following the one appearing on Loto-Québec's program ("the time limit"). The outcome of a completed match is the final results of this match. A match is deemed to have been completed if the two opponents have started the match and if at least 5 innings have been completed (4 ½ if the home team is leading) before "the time limit". The outcome of a match that is deemed to have been completed is determined by the score of that match at the end of the last completed inning, except if the home team takes the lead in the incomplete inning. In this last case the outcome of the match is determined by the score at the time it is stopped. Any other incomplete match is deemed not to have been played and cannot be part of a winning selection.
- When a doubleheader is part of Loto-Québec's program, the first match of Loto‑Québec's program always refers to the first match started, and this regardless of the hour appearing on the program. Likewise, when only one match of a doubleheader is part of Loto-Québec's program, this match refers to the first match started, whether it is a rescheduled or regularly scheduled match. The continuation of a suspended match started on a previous date is never part of Loto-Québec's daily program.
HOCKEY AND SOCCER
- In hockey and soccer, the outcome of a match is determined by the final score including, if applicable, overtime play, but before shootout.
GOLF
- In golf, a match is a competition between two golfers within a round, in order to determine who will obtain the lowest score (the winner) or if there is a tie. A golfer who does not complete a round cannot be the winner of the match.
- A golfer that has been disqualified at the end of a round but who has completed the round can be the winner, if such is the case.
- The outcome of the match is determined by the announcement of the scores of the round and before the playoff holes, if applicable.
BOXING
- In boxing, a match for which the announced result is "no contest" is deemed not to have been played and cannot be part of a winning selection.
CAR RACING
- In car racing, a match is a competition between two drivers of a same race in order to determine who will have the best ranking for the race.
- If both drivers have withdrawn from the race, the winner will be the one having completed the most number of laps. If both drivers have withdrawn from the race and have completed the same number of laps the outcome of the match is a tie.
- A driver who is in position on the starting grid is deemed to have started the match, even if he is later replaced.
TENNIS
- In tennis, if one of the players forfeits after having started the match, the other player is deemed to have won the match.
Specific rules applying to Mise-o-jeu propositions
The general Mise‑o‑jeu rules found above and on the selection slips also apply to Mise‑o‑jeu propositions, unless they are modified by the following:
MISE-O-JEU PROPOSITIONS (applies to all sports or, where indicated, to the sports specified)
-
Make your predictions by answering one or more questions on the applicable program regarding the performance of players
during a match, or the performance of teams during a playoff series. If the answer to a question gives rise to a tie
between two players or teams and the applicable program does not offer the "tie" outcome for that question, any prediction
on that question is void and cannot be part of a winning selection.

only after the relevant playoff series has been completed. Any prediction on an incomplete playoff series is void and cannot
be part of a winning selection.
- For a given program, any prediction regarding the performance of teams during a playoff series must be registered before the next match in that series actually starts.
